Hunca Munca Worldwide Limited Edition of 500 - $425.00 Available Now From Bearly A Memory We are pleased to add Hunca Munca™ to our highly-acclaimed Beatrix Potter™ Collection. This whimsical mouse character made her appearance in the book "The Tale of Two Bad Mice" first published in 1904. The Tale of Two Bad Mice is a charming story about two mice named "Hunca Munca" and "Tom Thumb." Together they explore a doll's house and cause much mischief there. At the conclusion of the tale, the naughty mice repent and Hunca Munca vows to sweep the doll's house every morning with her dustpan and broom. The Tale of Two Bad Mice was the fifth of Beatrix Potter's little books and like the previous four was an immediate success. It was written at a particularly happy time of life for Beatrix Potter. She and her editor, Norman Warne, were becoming firm friends and he fashioned a new cage for Beatrix's pet mice, Tom Thumb and Hunca Munca, so she could more easily draw them for her new book. He had also made a doll house for his favorite niece, Winifred, and Beatrix was invited to visit and sketch this too. Some of the actual doll house furniture shown in the illustrations can still be seen on display at Hill Top, her first Lakeland home. Beatrix dedicated the book to Winifred, the little girl who had the doll's house. Measuring a diminutive 3" tall, Hunca Munca™ is made of the finest mohair plush and is jointed at the neck and shoulders. She features realistic coloring, brown glass pupil eyes, whiskers, resin hands and feet, and a leather tail. Hunca Munca is outfitted in a lavender cotton dress with back bustle and white cuffs. The dress is tailored out of custom printed floral fabric based exactly on the Beatrix Potter illustrations. Over her dress she wears a crisp cotton batiste apron. Just as in the original illustrations, Hunca Munca holds tiny custom made accessories: a miniature broom made of wood with natural bristles; and copper dust-pan with painted wood handle. No detail has been overlooked in bringing this beloved Beatrix Potter™ character vividly to life! Produced in a numbered limited edition of just 500 pieces worldwide, Hunca Munca™ will come inside a deluxe R. John Wright presentation box. Included will be the signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity and forms for owner registration. Mrs. Tiggy-winkle Worldwide Limited Edition of 500 - $750.00 Available Now From Bearly A Memory The sixth of Beatrix Potter's little books, The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-winkle was first published in 1905. The story follows a meticulous washer-woman completing her bundles of laundry. The character was inspired by a Kitty McDonald, Scottish washerwoman, "a comical, round little old woman, as brown as a berry and wears a multitude of petticoats". Many of Beatrix Potter's story-book animals were based on her own pets to which she often gave human qualities. Beatrix's tame hedgehog, which she had named "Mrs. Tiggy-winkle", did her duty as a model for the illustrations: "So long as she can go to sleep on my knee she is delighted, but if she is propped up on end for half an hour, she first begins to yawn pathetically, and then she does bite! Nevertheless she is a dear person." For 2008, we are proud to add Mrs. Tiggy-winkle™, to our highly-acclaimed Beatrix Potter Collection. Measuring approximately 12" tall, this delightful roly-poly character is fully jointed and constructed of the finest custom made mohair plush and cotton. She features realistic coloring, a molded nose, glass eyes, inset whiskers, and separate fingers with resin claws. Mrs. Tiggy-winkle comes outfitted in a layered felt and cotton costume which include custom hand printed fabrics in the soft, delicate shades of the watercolor illustrations. Her spiky tipped mohair pokes through the fabric of her organdy bonnet and on her feet she wears hand cobbled felt and leather boots. In one hand, Mrs. Tiggy-winkle holds a quilted felt potholder and her own custom made miniature sadiron! No detail has been overlooked in striving for the utmost in accuracy to the original Beatrix Potter images.
